TRAINING
Our expertise is working with young pups to get everyone on the right paw from Day 1. Yet we welcome all dogs of all ages. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks! It might just take a little longer to change some old habits. We do not work with aggressive animals but do welcome reactive or fearful dogs.
You can choose one-on-one training in your home, an in person class, virtual training or consultations, videos, or podcasts.
The Benefits of Training
Training classes teach you how to best communicate with your puppy. Group classes offer great opportunities for canine socialization, which is critical for their development. Organized training classes also provide an opportunity for your dog to socialize with other dogs. In classes aimed at earning the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy distinction, you’ll be able to get information on all of your puppy-raising questions including house training, chewing, and the most effective way to teach practical skills such as coming when called. AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy training is a natural lead in to the AKC® Canine Good Citizen® Program.
EMOTIONAL SUPPORT/COMFORT DOGS AND THERAPY DOGS
Jeannine loves training all levels and breeds of dogs but feels a special affinity for training dogs that “give back “ namely Therapy Dogs and Emotional Support or Comfort Dogs. The difference between these specialized dogs is therapy dogs work with everyone. They share their love with all ages of people from all walks of life. Emotional Support or Comfort Dogs work with one person similar to a service dog, but the training focuses on the dog physically hugging and being a calming influence for someone who could be experiencing anxiety, depression, or a difficult time. Therapy Dog training can be individualized or in a class. Emotional Support Dogs need to be trained privately.
She’s not just a good girl:
She’s the best-est, smart-est, and (possibly) the most beautiful girl in school.
CLASSES
PUPPY PRE-K
$ 160/dog | for Puppies 2-5 months
Start your new fur baby on the right foot! This class is tailored to the needs of the participants! We can cover crate training, housebreaking, socialization, socialization, and socialization. Most of this class will be off leash. The window for teaching pups the right way to interact with people and other canine friends is a short developmental window. We will help you build that canine human bond in the appropriate way where your dog feels safe and secure but respects you and your family as pack leaders.Normally I encourage the entire family to come, especially children, so the pup knows his/her place in the family, and the children interact in an appropriate way to prevent problems. You may bring ONE family member at this time. Classes will have some interactive games and activities because puppies need to play and have short attention spans.
Please bring slippers! Since little puppies will be in class and in the house, all outside shoes must remain outside. We are very strict about keeping all of our young canine friends healthy.
Puppies must show proof of two DPT boosters as a minimum to participate.
Please bring a 3-6 foot leash, a buckle collar and some soft treats.
PUPPY K
$ 160/dog | for Puppies 3-6 months
Puppy K begins where Puppy Pre-K leaves off. Socialization and off leash work are still staples, but now we add more obedience commands with sit, stay, down, come, wait, follow me, and leashwork. Chewing, mouthing, jumping, settling down, and the very important command of “leave it” will be covered. We will help you build that canine human bond in the appropriate way where your dog feels safe and secure but respects you and your family as pack leaders. Normally I encourage the entire family to come, especially children, so the pup knows his/her place in the family, and the children interact in an appropriate way to prevent problems, but due to the Safety Plan I need to limit the number of people to ONE family member per class. Classes will have some interactive games and activities because puppies need to play and have short attention spans.
Puppies must show proof of two DPT booster shots as a minimum to participate.
Please bring a buckle collar, a 3-6 foot leash, and some soft treats.
BASIC OBEDIENCE I
$ 160/dog | for Dogs 5 months or older
This class builds on Puppy K. However, it is a great place for an older pup or an adult dog,too! We will continue to work on leash walking, coming when called and increasing distance, duration, and distraction for “stay.”. Of course there will be games and retrieving as well plus an obstacle course. We will begin working on a very reliable “sit.”
Again, we will talk about what is developmentally appropriate and how rewards/incentives /praise should be given for optimum results. We believe that consistency is key. Normally though, we allow for more than one handler to take part in these classes, as more than one person will be working with the dog in your home! However for the current session, we request only one handler for our Safety Plan. For this class you will need a buckle collar, 6-foot leash, a 20 foot lead, soft training treats and possibly a prong collar. Jeannine has prong collars and training leads for sale. Prong collars range in price from $25-$35 depending on the size of the dog. The 20 foot lead is $20.
BASIC OBEDIENCE II
$ 160/dog | for Dogs 6 months or older
Obedience 2 builds on the skills we introduced in Basic Obedience 1(watch me, loose leash walking, sit, down, stand, come, stay, leave it), but now we add the 3 D’s of Distance, Duration, and Distraction. AKC Good Citizen behaviors will be introduced, and of course there will be games to enhance the human/dog relationship as well as games to develop a dog’s impulse control. For this class you will need a buckle collar, 6-foot leash, soft training treats , possibly a prong collar, and 20 foot training lead. Jeannine has prong collars and training leads for sale.
Prerequisite: Basic Obedience 1, private lessons, or an assessment

What Our EDUPUPs Community Says About Us:
“Jeannine brought so much out and put so much into Ryder that he is able to be a dog - not a scared, unapproachable animal. Ryder LOVES her and so do we!”
— Sherrie Bovee
“… Now, when our son has an episode, Summit knows to go to him and give 'hugs'. She lays on his lap or chest and our son immediately calms down. We are forever grateful for what Jeannine was able to do for our family.”
— David DeConno
“Jeannine did a wonderful job working with our 115lb newfoundland "puppy" in her canine good citizen class. It was helpful to be exposed to a group of different dogs to help our big boy expand his social skills.”
